The Gallery of Bad Wimpfen introduces itself: The former Holy Ghost Spital, founded in 1230, is one of the very special sights in Bad Wimpfen’s historic center. The redevelopment of the building cost around 2 million EUR. Beside a free imperial city museum the building accommodates a municipal gallery. Focal point of the changing exhibitions are the Classic Modern Age and contemporary art. In this way also popular representatives of the great styles of art of the 29th century are presented. Neither extraordinary artists of art-dèco, cubism, konstruktivism, expressionism, surrealism, new objectivity, abstract expressionism, figurative abstraction, école de Paris, nude painting, op-art and pop-art, hard edge, new abstraction, visual poetry, computer art, post modern age, neorealism, concept art nor new savages and pluralism are missing. Among them pieces by Barlach, Chagall and many others can be seen. Moreover, the gallery also offers regular special exhibitions of contemporary literature, concerts, readings, lectures, performances for children and more in its cultural programme.
